359. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Team Go-Getters Out of the Gate

Team Go-Getters Out of the Gate! Score 7

A boy wakes up to find that he has been turned into a Squirtle. He then teams up with a Charmander and a Chikorita, making up Team Go-Getters, a rescue team. They job they get is to rescue Pichus older brother Pikachu. Team Meanies, comprised of Gengar, Medicham, and Ekans, keep trying to get in their way.

I thought this was cute in a way. That being said, I prefer the specials where the Pokemon are Pokemon and the only talking Pokemon is Meowth. I think if I would have watched this as a kid, I would have liked it more because talking Pokemon doing things would have entertained me more then. It also seems to take more from the games than the anime series does as they mention a few times that they’re leveling up and learning new techniques from the leveling up.

So, good if you’re young, good for kids, good if you’re obsessed with Pokemon. Otherwise, you can take it or leave it.

570. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time and Darkness.jpg

Explorers of Time and Darkness Score 9

A human is turned into a Piplup and goes on an Adventure with a Chimchar and a Sunflora to get a scale from a Gabite for a Shinxs sick sister.

Cute. Fun. But why a Sunflora? I hate Sunflora. Besides, Treecko would have made more sense with Chimchar and Piplup…

I would say watch though. Doesn’t add to the series, but it’s fun on its own.

The Final Adventure Through Time and Darkness
Score 6

Piplup and Chimchar, along with a Grovyle, go on a journey to prevent time from stopping.

I had no idea what was going on here. When did Grovyle show up? When did we decide Piplup was from the future? Since when was it decided Piplup and Grovyle knew each other from said future? Why did Piplup lose his memories but Grovyle didn’t? Why doesn’t it have an actual ending?

Watch it. Don’t watch it. It doesn’t matter.
