Urabe Mikoto is a new transfer student that seems to be an odd loaner. She sleeps at her desk during breaks, she carries scissors in her underwear and on her first day of class, she burst into uncontrollable laughter for no reason. Still, Tsubaki Akira is curious about her. Then one day after school, Urabe was sleeping at her desk when Tsubaki woke her up. Having drooled on her desk in her sleep, Tsubaki winds up tasting her drool and becomes addicted to it, which Urabe seems to find quite normal.
It was cute. The art style felt sort of nostalgic for some reason. Then the story itself had this cute and slightly innocent but still really pervy feel to it. Like, Tsubaki and Urabe never really kissed or held hands and whenever he tried to jug her she pulled out her scissors. But at the same time, they swapped spit daily and Urabe was naked quite a bit (although it does seem to be censored. If there’s an uncensored version, I wouldn’t mind watching it again). I do sort of wish I had watched the English dub though as Greg Ayres did a voice in it, but I loved the voices in the Japanese dub. The voices really seemed to match the characters. If I can find an English dub that isn’t sped up though, I may rewatch it. Considering how much this kind of thing happens, you’d think I’d know by now that I have to check the voices before I watch it.
Anyway, the spit thing I think is actually really cool. By tasting someone’s spit, if they have a connection, they can experience what that person feels physically and emotionally. I really wish something like that were real. It would make life so much easier.
I have a feeling this is going to be one of my favourites. It’s something cute, perverted, original (to my knowledge anyway) and it just has a nice feel to it. It’s one of those ones that will probably stick with you. Not one that might be amazing when you watch it but you’ll forget all about in a week or month. It’s something that, while not amazing, is good and just sticks.
And, how about an extra?
Of course there has to be an episode with a summer festival, even if it is just an OVA. So Urabe and Tsubaki go on a double date with Oka and Ueno. While there, Oka and Ueno take off, leaving Urabe and Tsubaki alone. Then of course they get separated while in the crowd and when they meet back up, it’s at a weird museum. Cross over with Discommunication (manga by Ueshiba Riichi)
It has a pretty similar feel to the main series but it’s a lot cuter (in my opinion) because at this point, they seem a lot closer together and it has something that doesn’t seem realistic at all, that isn’t a dream (probably). Not that the whole spit thing is all that realistic to begin with… Also, the boy with the fox mask is kind of really cute… I wouldn’t mind an anime with him, but from what I can tell, it’s only a manga aside from his appearance in this, so I’ll have to settle for that. Eventually.
Anyway, it’s a nice way to end the series, although it would be nice if there was more. I kind of really want to read the manga now…
