A Girl at My Door (2014) live action, movie – South Korea

194. A Girl at My Door
drama, family, melodrama
starring: Bae Doo Na, Kim Sae Ron, Song Sae Byeok

Young Nam was a promising graduate of the police academy when transferred to a small seaside village for misconduct. When she arrives, she meets a young girl named Do Hee who is bullied by her classmates and abused by her father and grandmother. After Young Nam helps her, Do Hee takes a liking to her. After Do Hees grandmother dies, she starts to stay with Young Nam.

I’m actually confused by this. It was entertaining enough I guess, but it’s one where you have to take an interest in the characters while knowing almost nothing about them. You get a rough idea of way Young Nam was transferred (about half way through the movie), you find out that the girl is treated like shit quite early on, the girls father is an abusive alcoholic and the entire town is corrupt. This isn’t even getting into the end. I’m not going to get into it since I don’t want to give too much away, but I’m kind of thinking the two girls broke a few laws and there were quite a few things left unanswered.

I don’t have an opinion on if you should watch it or not. But keep in mind that there’s domestic abuse, child abuse and maybe sexual abuse.
