1963 in Jackson, Mississippi. Eugenia “Skeeter” Phelan is a single white woman that wants to be a writer and is working as a journalist. Being given a cleaning column in a local paper, she gets help from a friends main, Aibileen Clark. Her relationship with Aibileen and Constatine, the maid that had raised her, and learning more about how “the help” are treated, she is inspired to write a book from the perspective of the help with the help of Aibileen and Minny Jackson, another maid.
It was funny, moving and a little sad. It also makes a point without shoving it in your face. Probably the best parts had to do with the pies though. They were, especially the one part, hilarious.
