THE READING Book 20: A Christmas Carol (Charles Dickens)

0020K0018. A Christmas Carol. Charles Dickens

TITLE: A Christmas Carol

AUTHOR: Charles Dickens

GENRE: paperback, novella, fiction, classics, literature, fantasy

PUBLISHER: Airmont Publishing Company, Inc

PAGES: 128

YEAR: 1963

NOTES:

DESCRIPTION: Ebenezer Scrooge is a stingy old man that doesn’t like the idea of Christmas or goodwill, caring only for profit. On Christmas eve, his 7 year dead partner, Jacob Marley, comes to warn him of his ways. He is then visited by 3 spirits, the Ghost of Christmas Past, the Ghost of Christmas Present and the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come.

DECISION: Keep

I like the book, but in all honesty, I feel it’s dated. People don’t talk like they did in the mid-1800’s which makes reading it a little difficult for me. I don’t tend to read each word, but with books like this, I have to, which means I have to read aloud or my usually reading habits will take over and I’ll miss something and have to reread. Watching it is easier because of that.

That being said though, I’ll probably read it again, so it is something I’d recommend.

Book #20

Keep #18

Lose #2

  1. Finally read A Christmas Carol this year and loved it. 🙂 I’ve been watching Scrooge (1951 with Alastair Sim) pretty much every year since childhood.
