Man had not yet learned to fly when H.G. Wells conceived this story of a Martian attack on England. Giant cylinders crash to Earth, disgorging huge, unearthly creatures armed with heat-rays and fighting machines. Amid the boundless destruction they cause, it looks as if the end of the world has come. (goodreads)
I kind of wish this is one of those things where they leave a lot out. If it was the full thing, I seriously wonder how he became considered one of the greats for science fiction… I mean, can it even be considered a “war”? Aliens come, destroy everything while the humans can’t do jack and then they die from not being able to deal with earths bacteria. It was a radio show though… They probably edited it a lot to have it fit in the time slot, right? I’ll have to try and get the actual book….
